Transformational Medical Technologies

Overview
Transformational Medical Technologies (TMT) is an integral part of the National Biodefense Strategy. The Department of Defense (DoD) created the program to protect the Warfighter from emerging, genetically altered and unknown biological threats by discovering and developing broad spectrum countermeasures (“one drug, many bugs”) through innovative medical research, development, test and evaluation programs.

Mission
Protect the Warfighter from emerging and genetically engineered biological threats by providing a novel response capability from identification of pathogens to the development of medical countermeasures.

Protecting the Warfighter and the Nation
TMT makes strategic investments and partners with other government agencies as well as academic institutions, biotechnology firms, and pharmaceutical corporations to facilitate the discovery and development of medical countermeasures that are FDA-approved, broad spectrum, and produced in a rapid response capability adaptable to newly identified threats.

Partnership and Funding Opportunities
TMT encourages small businesses, disadvantaged businesses, and other firms and entities of interest to submit proposals for research and development (R&D) work that supports TMT’s mission. TMT solicits proposals primarily though FedBizOpps, a GSA service for all Federal procurements over $25,000 in value. Visit TMT’s website (www.tmt-cbdefense.org) and click on the tab “Open for Business” to find TMT solicitations from FedBizOpps.
